During the recent Full Council Meeting at the Civic Centre, Chingola Town Clerk, Ms. Namukolo Kalufyanya, highlighted several important updates for the community.
Firstly, she announced the establishment of a new Voter Registration Centre, accompanied by the hiring of two new officers to facilitate the process. Additionally, measures to enhance integrity within the council were discussed, including the reconstitution of integrity committees.
Ms. Kalufyanya also reported progress on the titling of council properties, with 57 properties already titled. However, challenges were noted in the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) projects, particularly in Nchanga Constituency, where some projects were cancelled. She emphasized the need for efficient fund utilization and urged prompt action on pending matters.
Regarding recent Ward Development Committee elections, the Town Clerk acknowledged receiving petitions and assured the council that they were being addressed. Moreover, she highlighted the imperative of the delimitation of wards and polling districts within Chingola District. The council was reminded of the impending deadline for submissions, urging councilors to facilitate the process and identify areas requiring relocation of polling districts.
As the community navigates these developments, the Town Clerk emphasized collaboration and prompt action to address challenges and advance communal interests.
