Vice President Mutale Nalumango says the church and government should not be in competition but strive to work for the betterment of Zambians.
Speaking when she officiated during the centenary celebrations of the uniting Presbyterian church in Zambia, Mrs Nalumango said it is important for the two bodies to work together in ensuring that living standards are lifted.
In her homily, St Columbus Presbytery Church right Reverend Lydia Neshangwe of Zimbabwe encouraged the church to be the game changer in decision making.
Reverend Neshangwe added that by so doing the rules of the game will be changed and politicians will be challenged.
She called on the church to ensure women are put in decision making positions and not to fill the gender equality role.
Reverend Neshangwe implored politicians in Zambia and Zimbabwe to have power with peace as this guarantees prolonged togetherness as Africans.
David Livingstone Memorial Presbyterian Church in Livingstone yesterday celebrated its 100 years under the theme “Celebrating 100 years of God’s Grace, Impartation, Evangelism and Discipleship”.
