Minister of Water commends Mulonga Water on the ZWSP

By ALICE NACHILEMBE
Minister of Water Development and Sanitation, Mike Mposha, has commended the progress of the Mulonga water supply and sanitation project under the Zambia Water Sanitation Project (ZWSP).

Mr. Mposha expressed his satisfaction with the pace and quality of the work carried out by the contractor. He highlighted the impressive long-term planning involved to prevent recurring water issues.

He assured the residents of Chingola, Mufulira, and Chililabombwe that once this project is completed and commissioned, water supply problems will be resolved.

Mr. Mposha urged the contractor to maintain their current momentum, emphasizing the importance of providing communities with access to water. The government’s commitment to improving water supply across utility firms is evident through projects like ZWSP, he noted.

He also urged the communities to protect these vital infrastructures, as vandalism can result in high costs to repair or replace equipment.

MWSC Managing Director, Ndilakulapa Hamalambo, explained that the project aims to enhance water quality and increase supply capacity. Consistency in water supply, a significant challenge currently faced, will be guaranteed upon project completion.

Mr. Hamalambo called on the community to fulfill their part by paying their bills, ensuring the sustainability of the project.
