Police in Mufurila have apprehended a 43-year-old stepfather for allegedly axing to death his 14-year-old step-son.
Copperbelt Police Commanding Officer Peacewell Mweemba said the relationship between the step son and step father was antagonistic as the stepfather never wanted the step son.
Mr Mweemba said on October 1, 2023 the mother who has been married to Benson Mwansa (stepfather) for the past 13 years, went to church and left the victim in the company of the step father and another son.
He said while at church an altercation between the step father and step son ensured, prompting the step father to hit the victim with an axe handle on the head.
Mr Mweemba said the victim was rushed to Ronald Ross hospital where he was further referred to Kitwe teaching hospital.
He said at around 1900 the very day he died.
The victim’s body is lying at Kitwe teaching hospital mortuary awaiting Postmortem and an arrest has been made on the Killer stepfather Benson Mwansa.
