A-49-year-old woman of Gwembe District has been killed by her husband for unknown reasons.
Police Deputy Spokesperson Danny Mwale identified the victims as Joyce Siywimweenda was murdered by her husband only identified as Clive Mitengwe.
He said the incident occurred between September 11, 2023 around 22:00 hours and September 12, 2023 around 09:00 hours at Hamwala village in Chief Munyumbwe’s area.
Mr Mwale said brief facts of the incident are that on September 11, 2023, Joyce Siywimweenda was attending a funeral of her husband’s relatives in Hamwala village.
He said she was later picked up by her husband around 21:00 hours and never returned to the funeral house.
“Following day, on September 12, 2023 around 10:00 hours, she was found dead without clothes in the bush near Lufuwa stream.
“Police were alerted and rushed to the scene where they found the body of the deceased without clothes in a squatting position in a pool of blood. The body had multiple physical injuries. Sharp instruments are suspected to have been used in the act,” he said.
Mr Mwale said the body was later deposited in Gwembe Hospital Mortuary awaiting postmortem and burial.
The suspect is detained in Police custody and investigations have intensified. The motive behind the killing is not yet established.
