LUAPULA PS OPENS ZALASA TOURNAMENT

Luapula Province Permanent Secretary (PS) Mr Mighty Mumba has challenged all Local Authorities to encourage a culture of hardwork among Officers not only in sports, but all areas of life.
Speaking when he graced the official opening of the 8th Zambia Local Authorities Sports Association (ZALASA) annual tournament today in Mansa, Mr Mumba said sports should be considered as one of the driving forces that propels Officers in Councils to work harder and strive for excellence.
The Luapula Province Permanent Secretary commended Local Government for the ZALASA initiative as sporting activities have the ability to transcend boundaries and unite individuals from diverse backgrounds.
At the same event, the ZALASA President Mr Clement Mwila made an appeal to Government to come up with a deliberate policy for sports infrastructure to be improved and built through the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) considering that community sports will now be under Local Authorities from the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Arts.
This year’s ZALASA tournament is being held under the theme: *Enhancing hardwork and unity in Municipalities through sports development*.
