Solwezi Municipal Council Officers scoops 4 medals at ZALASA

Solwezi Municipal Council Town Clerk Mr Stanley Mbewe has congratulated his Officers that participated at the just ended Zambia Local Authorities Sports Association (ZALASA) tournament for the achievement of scooping four (04) medals and thereby making Council proud.

Speaking when Director Housing and Social Services Mr Lubinda Mwala handed over the trophies to the Town Clerk, Mr Mbewe said Management attached great importance to the annual tournament which signified the essence of keeping fit and healthy through sports.

Hence, the Town Clerk assured the workforce of Management’s continued support of all sporting activities which are in line with Government’s call for making Zambia Clean, Green and Healthy through such initiatives.

Solwezi Municipal Council was among the over 35 Local Authorities that participated in this year’s ZALASA tournament which was hosted by Mansa district.
The Local Authority minted Gold in the Women’s 21Km Marathon through Ruth Samawinu who is an Office Orderly.

In the Women’s 10Km category, Memory Sakala was awarded a Silver Medal while Christine Samututa was given a Bronze medal in the 5Km Women’s race.
The Volleyball team was the 1st Runner’s Up when it lost in the final to its arch-rival: Chongwe Municipal Council.
