DPH TOURS KANSANSHI MINE PUBLIC HEALTH FACILITIES

Solwezi Municipal Council Director Public Health (DPH) Mr Felix Buleke yesterday undertook a familiarisation tour of Kansanshi Mining Plc in order to gain comprehensive understanding of the Mine’s public health and environmental activities and programs.

The tour commenced with an highlight on how waste is managed by the Mine.

Thereafter, visits were made to the Mine Waste Water Treatment Plant, Hazardous and non Hazardous Waste facilities, the Canteen and Nursery.

During the visits, the Director appreciated the significant role that the Mine is playing in upholding public health standards and adhering to environmental laws.

He emphasised the importance of enhanced collaboration between the two entities to achieve the common goal of developing Solwezi.

Mr Buleke revealed that the Council has intentions of establishing its own nursery as one other way of encouraging tree planting which is eventually greening the environment.

Meanwhile, Kansanshi Mining Plc Environmental Superintendent in charge of Operations Mr Bright Mwewa assured the Director of the Mine’s continued, unwavering support of Government programs.

Mr Mwewa said the mine took pride in interacting with the Local Authority, aimed at ensuring an environmentally friendly district.

The Mine also expressed delight in the Council for the recently held Food Handlers Training in the Mine which was termed as a good refresher and an eye opener.

The Director Public Health was accompanied by the Acting Cleansing Manager Mr Anseli Jere Mwambwa and Environmental Planner Mr Eric Mukwita.
