The Ministry of Agriculture has rescinded its decision to restrict the movement of maize and mealie across districts.
Permanent Secretary, Green Mbozi said Government will engage stakeholders in consultations on how best to ensure that Zambians are prioritized to access maize and mealie meal.
Mr Mbozi said the decision was meant to manage the excessive movement of maize and mealie to other countries.
He says government wants to ensure that the Food Reserve Agency -FRA- buys enough stocks for the country’s strategic reserves.
And Mr Mbozi has advised stakeholders to avoid leaking confidential letters on social media and seek clarification from his office.
