Chisokone Market gutted saddens Matambo

Fire has swept through Kitwe’s Chisokone Market on the Copperbelt destroying properties worth Millions of Kwacha.

Copperbelt Minister Elisha Matambo has expressed sadness over the burning of Chisokone Market in Kitwe.

Mr Matambo said the situation is sad as people’s goods and cash has been destroyed in the fire.
“This morning we took time to go and see the extent of damage at Chisokone Market in Kitwe on the Copperbelt Province after fire swept through last night,” he said.

He has assured the people who lost property and goods worth thousands of kwacha through the office of District Commissioner, a report will be compiled to see how the Government will help.

The Minister has called for investigation agencies to quickly establish what happened.

Mr Matabo said President Mr Hakainde Hichilema is saddened about this very unfortunate event and he has sent a message of support to all those who lost goods and property.

“It was saddening to discover that some people took advantage of the unfortunate incidence and started looting the shops instead of helping to put out the fire as well as to safe guard the property, such behavior don’t resonate well with our beliefs as a Christian Nation.

Last night Chisokone Market was gutted by fire.
