Upholding oneness serves as example to the world-Bishop Sichilima

By ALICE NACHILEMBE
The United Church of Zambia (UCZ) Synod Bishop Sydeney Sichilima has emphasised the importance of upholding the spirit of oneness in the church to serve as a positive example to the world.

During a special Sunday service at St. Marks UCZ congregation in Chingola, where he delivered a homily titled ‘Jesus the perfect example’ from the book of John 13:13-25, Bishop Sichilima urged the church to be a place of peace, love, and support among fellow believers.

He expressed concern that some congregations have faced decline due to certain individuals associating only with specific groups of believers, neglecting the true essence of unity.

Highlighting the plight of those in need within the church community, the Bishop called for empathy and assistance to those who are suffering and struggling. He reminded the congregants that there are individuals among them who do not know where their next meal will come from, and they silently cry for help during the service.

The Bishop emphasised that if the church embraces the spirit of oneness, everyone can live together as one Zambia and one nation.

He urged those with the capacity to help others, both believers and the church, not to hold back and  extend a helping hand to those in need.

Bishop Sichilima called for the church to recognise the needs of others, support one another, and let compassion and unity thrive within the body of Christ. By doing so, the church can make a positive impact on the lives of its members and foster a harmonious and compassionate community.
