Five people have been arrested in Luanshya district on the Copperbelt after they were allegedly found to have diverted raw sewage for gardening purposes.
KWSC Manager Marketing and Public Relations Misheck Moyo said the five are said to have been diverting raw sewer from the Kafubu Water and Sanitation Company (KWSC), main sewer infrastructure in Mpatamatu.
Mr Moyo said the suspects who are detained in police custody are expected to appear in court soon.
He said the five where nabbed by State Police working in collaboration with the local authority and officers from KWSC.
Mr Moyo said KWSC is therefore urging members of the public to desist from diverting sewer from its infrastructure for any purposes.
“We are urging members of the public to report those involved in such acts to relevant authorities,” he said.
