Community Social Engagement foster relationships with Leaders

Nchanga Ward Councillor Jones Siluyele has emphasised the importance of community engagement meetings and social events, particularly sports, as they foster stronger relationships between leaders and their constituents.

Siluyele affirmed that these gatherings are essential for leaders to exert their influence and offer support to the community.

Speaking at the Nchanga Ward Komboni Come Together Sports event over the weekend, the councillor highlights the significance of community engagement in understanding the needs and challenges of the residents, stating that door-to-door interactions alone are insufficient.

Siluyele emphasised that such meetings not only familiarize the community with their leaders but also strengthen the bond between them. He believed that citizens should be aware of their leaders’ identities, as they play a crucial role in addressing community concerns during council meetings.

He further expressed concern that, despite the availability of the Constituency Development Fund (CDF), many individuals struggle to access information or locate the Councillor or ward development committee members to complete necessary processes such as skills training and grants or loans applications.

Siluyele underscored the purpose of the current sports event as a means to promote physical fitness, mental refreshment, and unity among community members, enabling them to collectively address development challenges and find solutions.

He emphasised that collaboration and collective thinking are vital for progress in all aspects of community development.
