Boy 4 killed by Bush fire in Chambishi

A-four-year-old boy of Chambishi’s Olympic area has been burnt to death by bush fire whilst playing with friends.

Copperbelt Police Commanding Officer Peacewell Mweemba confirmed the development in a statement that the victim’s parents on June 22, 2023 around 14:00hrs went to the maize field leaving him with his elder brother given Banda 7, at home.

Mr Mweemba said around 17:00 hours, the victim, his brother and other friends (of the similar age) went to play in the bush near where there was bush fire.

He said the fire escalated and children ran away leaving the victim who failed to run and got burnt to death.

“They then reported to parents and the matter was reported to the police who visited the scene which is about 400 metres from home and found the victim with burnt wounds all over the body.

Mr Mweemba said an inquiry has been opened and the victim’s body deposited in Chambishi Government Clinic mortuary.
