Chingola District health has launched polio vaccine campaign for children under 5 in the district.
Speaking during a stakeholders meeting in Chingola today, Chingola District Commissioner Raphael Chimupi said issues surrounding health does not only affect health workers but society at large.
He was speaking on a speech read on his behalf by the District Administrative officer Stephen Monze
Mr Chimupi called on all the Chingola residents to get involved in the fight against polio and other diseases for a better and healthy Zambia.
He said parents with children under the age of five years should not shun away from having their children being vaccinated against polio.
Meanwhile, the DC urged the clergy to also help in sensitizing their congregants on the importance of having children to be vaccinated against polio and other diseases.
” The clergy has influence on their congregants, so it is very important that they also get involved as key stakeholders in the disemination of information noting that there is need to educate the community so that many children get vaccinated against polio in order to reduce the prevalence of the disease in Chingola district ” he said
And speaking earlier Chingola District Health Nursing Officer Annie Kakongoma has called on members of the public to fully support key players who will be conducting the exercise.
She said the vaccination exercise must be treated with the maximum attention and importance it deserves.
The exercise is scheduled to be started on the 19th of June 2023 to 25th June 2023.
