Mulonga water supply and Sanitation Company has embarked on the construction of two new reservoirs to supplement on the already existing ones at Kabundi reservoir to increase capacity to cater for the increasing demand for water supply in the district.

MWSC Communications Manager Bright Mtonga said that the two reservoirs have a capacity of 12,000 cubic meters each which means that the supply capacity will be increased as well.

Mr Mtonga said that the utility firm has started rationing water in Chingola due to the projects that the company has embarked on to improve on the supply.

He said that the project has reached a stage where there is no option but to rational water supply.

Mr Mtonga said called on the residents to exercise patience because once the project is completed the water blues will be a thing of the past.

He said the projects that are been undertaken may take some time to be completed but the firm will ensure that while they are taking in some long term measures they also put up some short-term measures also.

Mr Mtonga has urged people to help the utility firm by desisting from vandalizing the company properties which are supposed to help in service delivery.

He said that the company is drawn back because they have to replace properties that are been vandalized at a great cost.

“The people should also ensure that they report faults and leaks in the areas as it is also they responsibility to take care of infrastructure. In the long run once the projects been undertaken are completed,” he said
