As Economic Front, we would like to appeal to the Police to immediately arrest UPND Secretary General Betuka Imenda for hate speech against Lusaka Catholic Archibishop Dr Alick Banda contrary to section 65 of the cyber security and Cyber Crime Act No. 2 of 2021.
This is in connection with the recent remarks Betuka Imenda allegedly made that Dr Alick Banda is a CONMAN and LUCIFER of Zambia which is aimed at making sure that the people of Zambia begin to hate and rise against Archibishop Dr Alick Banda.
We have seen in recent past on how swiftly the police have moved in to arrest UPND political opponent such as Chilufya Tayali, Rapheal Nakacinda and many others but surprisingly today they are reluctant to arrest Mr Betuka Imenda just because he belong to the ruling party. That is unacceptable and unfair.
We call upon the Catholic Church, Priests and the general public not to be intimidated by UPND insults and threats which is meant to close down critical voices reminding president Hakainde Hichilema about his campaign promises and bad leadership that has caused misery to the ordinary people. We urge the church to stand up and continue to speak for the voiceless.
Lastly, we call upon President Hakainde Hichilema and Betuka Imenda to stop fighting the Catholic Church but rather focus of reducing the costs of living and production affecting the people.
