Zong Tong bus belonging to LG Travellers Bus Services Company has been burnt to ashes after it caught fire from behind at Jonken Area along Ndola Kitwe Dual Carriage Way of Luanshya.
Kafwende George 48, the Driver, reported that as he was driving from Ndola going to Solwezi via Kitwe the bus Make, Zong Tong REG NO AIB 2838 and on board were seven passengers caught fire.
Copperbelt Police Commanding Officer Peacewell Mweemba said the fire is suspected to have been caused by rear brakes on right side tyre which were binding and the flames of fire covered the whole bus which was burnt to ashes.
Mr Mweemba said this occurred today May 30, 2023 at around 11:00hours along Kitwe Ndola Dual Carriage Way Road,
He said all the passengers who were in the bus managed to disembark for safety.
