A- 28-year-old woman of Mtendere Township has been arrested for Child dumping.
This is after she was apprehended by a concerned member of the community around 04:00 hours.
Deputy Police Spokesperson Danny Mwale said that the suspect only identified as Getrude was seen by a member of the community around 04:00 hours carrying a sack while her clothes were stained with blood.
Mr Mwale said that after few minutes, the same member of the community met the suspect again but this time without a sack.
He said at this point, he got suspicious and confronted her.
“He asked where she had thrown the sack and immediately she revealed and led the man to the scene where the baby was heard crying a few meters away. The man opened the sack and found the baby covered with blood in a bucket,” he said.
Mr Mwale said the suspect was then handed over to Police who later rushed her and the baby to the hospital for medical attention.
