Chingola Member of Parliament spouse and Councillor’s wives committee has continued with the good will to help improve their communities and today they celebrated women’s day at Chawama clinic as they continue to improve the Children ward that was adopted by the committee last year.

The women made a stopover at Chawama clinic where they are putting tiles and brand new mattress covers on the mattresses of their adopted children’s ward at Chawama clinic at a total cost of K25,000 before they joined the rest of the women at rugby stadium.

Ms Likonge Makai Mulenga the committee founder and Patron said today the women bought 30 boxes of tiles for the children’s ward so that patients stay in a clean environment.

She said that the children heal fast when the environment is clean and comfortable like a home.

Ms Mulenga also said that the women have embarked on a nutrition program at Chawama Clinic where the women will also plant vegetables and different fruits at the clinic in order to supplement the nutritional aspect of the clinic.

She said the nutrition program was inspired by the ADCH in collaboration with Permaponics who led the project at Arthur Davison Children’s Hospital as it is also a way of sustaining and protecting the environment.

Ms Mulenga said they will engage women and youths to help with the gardening as a way of empowering them and creating employment.

She said she is hopeful that this venture will generate income for the clinic.

Ms Mulenga said peoples mind set should be changed and that when it comes to preserving the environment it should begin with oneself.

She said that the committee is committed to supplement the effort of their spouses in order to improve the community and the people’s wellbeing.

And Chawama Clinic Sister in Charge Gladys Mpharo said that the gesture by the committee is appreciated as it will change the lives and perspectives of the community when they are at the clinic.

She said the nutrition program is welcome as it will enhance change and improve the kitchen at the clinic.
