A-17-year-old girl of Pongwe has allegedly committed suicide by taking poisonous substances known as parquet.
Circumstances are that the victim on February 13, 2023 reported late at her sisters place where she was staying at around 20:00 hour.
And later her parents were informed and upon interviewing her they suspected her of having had sex.
Thereafter she was taken to Mikata Health center where she stated that she was allegedly raped by Maybin Mpoko and she was taken back home.
The following day February 14, 2023 in the morning she was discovered to have drunk poisonous substances known as parquet and she was rushed to Mpongwe Mission hospital.
Copperbelt Police Spokesperson Peacewell Mweemba said the victim later died on February 16, 2023 at around 23:30 hours whilst in admission ward at Mpongwe mission Hospital.
The body is deposited to Mpongwe Mission Hospital mortuary no foul play suspected.
