The Inspector General of Police Lemmy Kajoba has expressed displeasure on the continued attacks by Chishimba Kambwili against the Office of the Inspector General of Police.
Mr Kambwili in a recent posting on social media platform is heard making assertions that the Inspector General of Police is a figurehead and that a named senior Police officer at State House is one running the Zambia Police Service.
Mr Kajoba said his office is forced to respond to his constant rantings against the Office of the Inspector General and other senior Police officers because this is not the first time he is issuing such disparaging remarks.
He said police will not engage him in public fora such as the social media platforms but watch him closely and analysing every statement he utters.
“His attempts to sow division among the Police Command will not work because we work within the professional and legal boundaries as provided for in the laws of Zambia. Therefore, the Zambia Police Service High Command will not fall prey to Mr Kambwili’s divisive tactics,” he said.
Mr Kajoba said if Mr Kambwili is accused of having committed an offence, he should concentrate on preparing his legal arguments when called upon in an appropriate forum such as the courts of law so that he exonerates himself.
“As a ‘leader’, we wish to warn that he should desist from making unwarranted and false attacks on the Police Command and the entire Police Service,” he said.
