Shop owners at Kasumbalesa border advised to subscribe for waste collection

Chililabombwe Municipal Council has urged all shop owners at Kasumbalesa border post to subscribe for waste collection.

And the Council through the department of Public Health and the department of Finance have embarked on a massive sensitization program at Kasumbalesa border to raise awareness to all business entities in the area to subscribe for Waste collection.

CMC Assistant Public Relations Manager Nambela Mwandia Kyombela said the two departments are on the ground educating and giving contracts forms for subscription of waste management by the Council to all Shop Owners at the boeder.

Ms Nambela said that Chililabombwe Municipal Council is carrying out this exercise in line with the Solid waste regulation and Management Act No 20 of 2018.

“The Council wishes to work together with the community, especially business entities, to keep surroundings clean and improve sanitation within the district. Earlier, the Local Authority engaged Community Based Enterprises (CBEs) to collect waste from household to household,” he said.

She has urged home owners to pay fees to the contracted CBEs while shop owners pay to the Council for waste collection.
