7 Criminals steal K80,000 from Mufulira Business man

Seven unknown Criminals have attacked and stole money amounting to K80, 215 from a Mufurila based Business Man which was meant for salaries.

The- 68-old Businessman reported that he was attacked by seven unknown criminals armed with pistols, and stole from him cash money amounting to k80 000, a phone make Vinny valued at K150 and wrist watch valued at K65 altogether K80,215.

Copperbelt Police Commanding Officer Peacewell Mweemba said that brief facts are that the victim had withdrawn money from the bank amounting to K80,000 on January 30, 2023 which was meant for his workers salaries.

Mr Mweemba said since it was late he decided to pay them the following day in the morning.

He said the victim passed through his business area to check on how business was going and at about 20:00 hours he decided to go home with the money meant for the workers, which was kept in the bag underneath the driver’s seat.

Mr Mweemba said he arrived at home around 20:40 hours, and the security guard Collins Mwansa 52, opened the gate for him.

“When he was about to enter the yard, about seven unknown criminals attacked the guard who was hit with a crawl bar on his head and sustained a deep cut on the head. The criminals later rushed to the victim who was driving a Nissan hard body and pointed a pistol to his head and started searching the vehicle,” he said.

He said the criminals got away with the bag containing the money, his phone and wrists watch.

Mr Mweemba said the matter was reported to Police who rushed to the scene and found the criminals gone.

He said the victim could not give a statement immediately as his blood pressure had risen.

The guard and the complainant were rushed to the hospital for treatment.
