Kyantobo school Staff house commissioned

By ALICE NACHILEMBE
Solwezi Municipal Council, through the office the Mayor Remmy Kalepa has officially commissioned a 2-bedroom staff house built using the 2022 Ward Development Fund (WDF) at Kyantobo Community School in Kazhiba ward.

Speaking during the handover ceremony of the house to the Ministry of Education, the Mayor stressed Government’s desire to create a conducive working environment for teachers regardless of being in the rural or urban areas hence the construction of such facilities.

Mr Kalepa expressed concern that Kyantobo Community School has never had decent residential accommodation as some teachers occupied one of the old classrooms which served as a house.

He commended the area Councillor Collins Chiwaya for seeing the need, by proposing to Council the construction of the first ever staff house at Kyantobo Community School.

Mr Kalepa assured the Kyantobo community that the municipality understands the plight of teachers in rural areas and hence called on stakeholders both in the public and private sectors to supplement Government efforts to alleviate the shortage of teachers’ accommodation in rural areas.

The Mayor was accompanied by Kazhiba ward Councillor Collins Chiwaya, Kamalamba Ward Councillor Loves Soneka, United Party For National Development (UPND) officials, Director of Engineering Services Eng. Angel Simwaba and Director Planning Mrs Sandra Mumba while the District Education Board Secretary (DEBS) was represented by Kyantobo Community School Head Teacher Mr Cliff Lufunda.
