Chingola Municipal Council has sounded a warning to members of the public illegally dumping waste on Railway Tracks in Chikola.
CMC Assistant Public Relations Manager Evelyn Mulenga said Council has noticed with great concern the increase in this illegal activity and shall not hesitate to prosecute those found wanting.
Ms Mulenga said the Solid Waste Regulation and Management Act 2018 and Statutory Instrument No. 12 of 2018 prohibit this practice hence no form of leniency will be exercised on perpetrators.
She said all residents and business owners are encouraged to subscribe to the franchise contractors engaged by the Local Authority in waste management.
“Council places great importance in ensuring that the District is kept clean to prevent outbreak of diseases,” she said.
