Unknown person has dumped a newly born baby boy suspected to be two to three days old at Mapepo school grounds in Ndola.
Copperbelt Police Commanding Officer Peacewell Mweemba said that on January 26, 2023 at around 21:00hours the reporter was coming from Mushili Market where she does business from and on her way home, she used a route that passes through Mapepo School grounds which is within Mushili Township.
Mr Mweemba said as she was walking along the route she found a newly born baby boy suspected to be 2 to 3 days old dumped by unknown person in the grass naked.
He said she then picked the baby, took it to her home and wrapped it in warm clothes, later reported at Kaloko Police Post.
“The baby has since been taken to Arthur Davison Children Hospital for medical check-ups. Inquiry file opened,” he said.
