Lusaka man arrested for assaulting surveyors

Police in Lusaka have apprehended one suspect identified Situmbeko Silume aged 43 of Mtendere East for allegedly assaulting two surveyors.

Assistant Public Relations Officer Godfrey Chilabi says this is in a matter in which two land surveyors were allegedly assaulted in Mikango area by a mob.

Mr Chilabi said the incident occurred on January 20, 2023 at around 12:45 hours in Mikango area .

He said that Investigations indicate that Colonel Charles Mulenga a Zambia Army officer and Mr Hargai Mulenga both surveyors were doing land surveying works in Mikango area when a mob attacked them.

“In the process, the two surveyors were assaulted and had their surveying equipment grabbed,” he said.

Mr Chilabi said the suspect is detained in custody while a manhunt for the other accomplices has been instituted
