Over 86,000 candidates who sat for the 2022 grade 12 examinations have obtained school certificates.
Education Minister Douglas Syakalima said this is out of the 125,000 candidates who sat for the examinations.
He said the pass rate represents over 2 percent increase from 67 percent in 2021.
Releasing the results in Lusaka, Mr Syakalima said the examinations were not characterized by any leakages and that those that have passed have done so genuinely.
And Examination Council of Zambia (ECZ) Chief Executive Officer Michael Chilala attributed the increase in the pass rate and candidature to improved educational reforms in the country.
Mr Chilala also said that the ECZ will this year propose to have Advanced-A Levels included in the secondary school curriculum in order to improve the performance of the pupils once at tertiary education level. ZNBC
