Police in Chongwe have lunched a man hunt for a mother who dumped her 2-weeks-old baby girl near a footpath in Kakubo village.
The mother was revealed as Lwendo Chizongo 23, of Kakubo village, she is alleged to have given birth two weeks ago.
The baby was dumped on January 14, 2023 in Kakubo village at unknown time.
Police Deputy Spokesperson Danny Mwale said that Police in Chongwe received a report of Baby Dumping in which a member of the public found a baby girl dumped near a footpath in Kakubo village.
Mr Mwale said Police officers rushed to the scene and took the baby to Chongwe District Hospital for care and medical attention.
He said the police are investigating circumstances that led to the baby being dumped by the mother.
A manhunt for the suspect who is on the run has since been launched.
