A-37- year- old man of John Howard Township in Lusaka has committed suicide after a dispute with his wife over the salary he never took home.
Ronald Kavuma committed suicide on December 27, 2022 around 12:00 hours in Lusaka’s John Howard Township.
Deputy Police Spokesperson Danny Mwale said Police were alerted and rushed to the scene where the victim was found lying on the floor and the cable believed to have been used to hang himself was still tied around his neck.
Mr Mwale said police investigations indicate that the deceased hanged himself after a quarrel with his wife over the salary he never took home.
He said the body has since been deposited in the University Teaching Hospitals mortuary awaiting postmortem.
In a similar incident, a 17 year old Juvenile of Kafue District committed suicide by hanging himself after a misunderstanding with his grandmother.
The incident happened on December 27, 2022 around 08:30 hours in Kachesa area of Kafue District.
Police visited the scene and found the body hanging on a tree in the nearby bush away from the village.
Police investigations revealed that on December 26, 2022 around 20:00 hours, the deceased was reprimanded for not going to work in the maize field with other family members. This did not go well with him and he was heard saying that he will kill himself.
The body has been deposited in Kafue District Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem and burial.
Police have opened inquiry files in both cases.
