A truck driver has been found dead inside his truck at Mokambo border.

Gabriel Marlon Chipman is believed to have been in a queue waiting for clearance to enter the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) to deliver acid.

Copperbelt commanding officer Peacewell Mweemba said police received information that a deceased who was in a Benz truck registration BCD4546 , the property of Access logistics of Ndola was found dead inside the acid truck.

He said the incident occurred yesterday at Mokambo border in Mufulira.

“Brief facts are that the truck in question was at Mokambo boarder in the queue awaiting clearance to DR Congo to deliver acid. It is believed that the truck had no enough fuel and had been parked near immigration offices for three days. Police rushed to the scene and found the truck locked with a dead body of a driver inside,” he said.

Mr Mweemba said police forced the truck door open to access the body, after which the body was inspected and had no visible injuries.

He said the body has been deposited to Ronald Ross Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem to determine the cause of death.
