Chingola Constituency Member of Parliament and Councillors wives Committee have wrapped up the year in style as they have refurbished the Children’s ward at Chawama Mini Clinic.
Committee Patron Likonge Mulenga said she has adopted the children’s ward at clinic which has catchment of 60, 000 people making it the busiest clinic in Chingola.
Mrs Mulenga who is also Chingola Member of Parliament Chipoka Mulenga’s wife said that Child health care is important hence they need to support Government’s effort to deliver quality health services to the people.
“As women we have realized the importance of good health care and we are using our own little resources we have as we believe little is enough when it is utilized well, “she said.
Ms Mulenga said that the Children need to be in a clean environment so that they heal fast and don’t miss home but they will feel at home when they are admitted.
“We want people to visit hospitals when they are sick because people shun hospitals and prefer to stay home and make their own prescription because the environment is not conducive for them. We want to see how we can improve the Children’s ward not just at Chawama but also other clinics in the constituency, “she said.
She said that a hospital should have favorable environment for patients it should be a comfortable place where sick will find refuge especially children.
“This year we have journeyed with the community through donations of Blankets in all health posts in the Constituency, as a committee we have empowered women with startup capital and we have also shared peoples sorrows when they morn we have mourned with them and have rendered all the little help we can from our small pockets,” she said.
Ms Mulenga said this is a Christmas present to the Children.
And Chawama Clinic Sister in Charge Faith Mulonda expressed gratitude towards the gesture and urged the women to continue with helping the community.
Chabanyama ward Councillor Moses Lungu thanked the women for the noble call which will go a long way to community members.
Among the works that has been done is the painting of the walls, and floor in the ward and Toilet, changing of the Toilet pan and the silk, putting in new window curtains and changing of bed sheets with two sets each plus a spare one, some play toys for the children and some cleaning materials.
