By Staff Writer
Chingola Municipal Council through the department of Engineering Services has embarked on a drainage cleaning exercise in all wards in the district.

The exercise, which will be done at a total cost of K288, 300.00 has been commissioned to start and major drainages will be unblocked and waste put in appropriate places.

CMC Assistance Public Relations Manager Evelyn Mulenga said the Local Authorities places great importance in ensuring that drainages are desilted for the proper flow of water and prevention against disease outbreaks.

Ms Mulenga said the Municipality is hereby sending out a stern warning against the indiscriminate dumping of waste in drainages.

She said the Local Authority has noted with great concern that residents both residential and those occupying trading spaces are in the habit of dumping waste in drainages located around the district.

Ms Mulenga said the Council is warning individuals involved in such acts as no form of leniency will be exercised on anyone that will be found wanting.

“All residents and business owners are encouraged to subscribe to the four franchise companies engaged by the Local Authority in garbage collection,” she said.
