3 injured in a road accident

Three people among them a toddler were involved in a serious road traffic accident which occurred when the driver of the Marcopolo bus they were in lost control due to excessive speed and the bus flipped off the road.

Copperbelt Police Commanding Officer Peacewell Mweemba said the accident happened when the vehicle was moving from the direction of South to North and in the process the driver lost control due to excessive speed and the bus flipped off the left side of road.

He said involved was a Marcopolo bus reg no. AJF 1185/ADE 6592 T belonging to Royal Africa which had a shattered front windscreen, damaged left part.

Mr Mweemba said the Bus was being driven by Steven Mukola 45, of Chimwemwe, Kitwe who sustained a swollen head and is admitted to Kitwe teaching hospital.

He also identified other injured passagers as Mapalo Mpundu 19, of Mpika who sustained bruises on the back, Agness Mbambala 2 of Kawama Township, Kitwe who sustained suspected internal body injuries.

Mr Mweemba said the Accident occurred on December 5, 2022 at about 04:00hrs along Ndola – Kitwe dual carriage way opposite Zemicks Lodge.

Both victims are admitted at Kitwe teaching hospital and the other thirteen 13 were all treated and discharged at  the  same hospital.
