Thirteen suspects have escaped from lawful custody at Lundazi police station.
Police Deputy Public Relations Officer Danny Mwale said the suspects escaped from custody around 04:30 hours yesterday.
Mr Mwale said the suspects who are facing various charges took advantage of one of the doors to the cell that was left open by an officer after detaining a suspect around 04:30 hours.
He said the suspects pushed the officer and escaped.
Mr Mwale has urged members of the public to assist police with information that can lead to the arrest of the suspects so that they can face fresh charges of escaping from lawful custody.
Police have since launched a manhunt for the suspects.
