Government says resources saved from the removal of subsidies have been channeled to other important programmes which have been key in job creation.
Ministry of Finance Economic Management Department Director, Mulele Maketo said government has managed to increase the Constituency Development Funds (CDF) since the removal of subsidies.
He says the increase in CDF has taken power closer to the people in communities across the country.
Mr Maketo said this during an engagement meeting with various Civil Society Organisations which included CARITAS Zambia on debt management.
And Development Education Community Project (DECOP) Executive Director, Charles Mulila commended government for reaching a staff level agreement which led to the acquisition of 1.3 billion dollars IMF bailout.
Mr Mulila further called for the change in the mining shareholding portfolio for ZCCM-IH proposing that government should have the larger percentage. ZANIS
