Chingola Constituency Member of Parliament Chipoka Mulenga has commissioned a borehole at Mutimpa Primary School to Carter for the school, clinic and nearby residents.
Speaking during the commissioning of the borehole, Mr Mulenga said that as it was promised during the campaigns safe and clean water has been delivered to the school.
The borehole will be constructed by China Copper Mine as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility.
And Mr Mulenga appealed to China Copper mines to construct a road in Mutimpa because it is impassable.
“As social cooperate responsibility, we also call on you to build a one by three classroom block at this school,” he said.
Mr Mulenga urged parents in Katuba area to ensure that they send their children to school so that they can benefit from the free education policy.
He also recognized and appreciated the hard work the teachers at the school contribute to the school.
Mr Mulenga who is also Commerce and Trade Minister said that with time, government will begin the home empowerment for teachers.
China Copper Mine Manager Collins Chama pledged continued support to the community.
Mr Chama said that the mine is ready to work hand in hand with government to ensure the development of Katuba area.
And Chingola District Education Board Secretary Noah Simalunga thanked government for looking into the wellbeing of teachers and the education sector.
Mr Simalunga said the recruitment of teachers and reintroduction of free education has seen a number of pupils enrolled in schools despite the challenge of desks and classes.
He has encouraged parents and guardians to encourage their children to go to school and benefit from the free education policy.
Speaking at the same event, School head teacher Fabian Mwila thanked the MP for the fulfillment of his promise to the school with safe and clean water.
Mr Mwila has since called on the MP to look into the accommodation of teachers as it is among the challenges teachers are facing in the area.
In response Mr Chipoka said that houses will be built for the teachers, and he is aware that currently Mutimpa only has four houses against 19 teachers
Mr Chipoka also encouraged the teachers not to relent and continue with the hard work.
