Fire has swept through the furniture section of Chiwempala market in Chingola.
The fire started around 03:00 this morning and has destroyed property worth millions of Kwacha at the biggest market in the district.
The cause of the fire is not yet known as authorities are yet to give a comprehensive statement.
Chiwempala ward Councilor Rhoda Mulenga said in an interview said that though the cause of the fire is not yet known, traders suspect it to be an arson case.
She said she is reliably informed that on Friday some unscrupulous people attempted to burn the market but people quickly managed to put it off.
