The recent increment of  transport fares is total punishment to Zambians

Dear Editor,

The recent announced increment in buses/Tax charges by the UPND government is total punishment to the people that voted President Hakainde Hichilema.

With this increment, we can simply say UPND lied to the people of Zambia that they will reduce the costs of living and production by ensuring the prices of fuel and transport are lowered down. Since they came into power they have continued to subject people to monthly price increment of fuel and transport costs. What is more disappointing is to see UPND cadres, MP’S and ministers defend these unnecessary price increments.

As a party, we sympathize with the Zambian people for being subjected to high costs of living and production by this govt who have no sense of care. These price increments will definitely cause the prices of goods and services to go up thus making the lives of people difficult and miserable.

While in opposition, President Hakainde Hichilema and his leadership condemned increment in transport charges but today his govt is subjecting people to more increments. It is clear the president and his leadership are happy to see Zambian suffer more due to monthly transport and fuel increments.

As a party, we call on the New Dawn govt to reintroduce fuel subsidizes and revert to quarterly fuel price review for us to arrest these monthly increment. The monthly fuel and transport review has proven to be a challenge to running business thus the need to drop it if we are to Protect businesses and people from rising in costs of fuel and transport as well as goods and services.

In conclusion, we want to remind the people of Zambia that as Economic Front under the leadership of President Wynter Kabimba, we warned you before the 2021 general elections not to vote for UPND but you never listened to us. You see paying the price for voting wrong and uncaring leader’s. They have no vision on how to reduce the costs of living and production but rather they are more interested in taking photos and praise themselves for doing nothing.
