The Energy Regulations Authority (ERB) will in 30 days determine whether to increase or maintain the ZESCO connection charges as requested by the power utility company.
ERB Board Chairperson Reynolds Bowa said the board will provide feedback after weighing the submission by various stakeholders on ZESCO’s application.
Meanwhile the application to increase the connection charges by ZESCO have been received with mixed feelings among stakeholders.
Speaking during the ERB Public hearing, some people rejected the proposed ZESCO revised charges while others supported the move.
Charles Haanyika said the power utility company should not be allowed to increase the connection charges.
Mr Haanyika said the electricity connection charges should instead be abolished and that ZESCO should device other means to new connections.
But Energy Expert Geoffrey Chiyumbe supported the proposed charges saying it will improve the quality of service delivery.
