Energy Minister Peter Kapala says President Hakainde Hichilema and his administration will continue acknowledging traditional ceremonies across the country as they are a unifying factor in providing a platform for Government and traditional leaders to co-exist.
Mr Kapala said this is why Government wants to work with traditional leaders because they are important partners in fostering development.
The energy Minister says Government will continue to encourage traditional leaders to celebrate traditional ceremonies as a way of preserving the country’s national identity.
The Minister was speaking when he addressed Hundreds of Ngumbo people from five Chiefdoms in Chifunabuli District Luapula Province who turned up to celebrate the Ukwanga ceremony.
And Mr Kapala said Government will take developmental projects such as schools and two clinics to Chifunabuli District.
He assured the traditional leaders that Government is committed to taking development in various chiefdoms.
And Organizing Committee Chairman Pontiano Kaice said it is gratifying that the ceremony has been hosted after three years of not taking place due to COVID-19. ZANIS
