Women important in decision making

The Zambia National Women’s Lobby says there is need to encourage women to take part in Governance process and to participate in decision making process.

 ZNWL Executive Director Juliet Chibuta said that women participation in Governance and decision making is important to the national development.

Speaking at a consultative engagement meeting with decision makers, Ms Chibuta said most women are left out because of different challenges ranging from there educational background. She said women should be given an opportunity because most of them are not corrupt and have tender hearts with consideration on many things.

“If women are given a chance meaningful development would be noted in the Nation, as women are good with what they do and they give dedication to all they are doing,” she said.

And Chingola District Commissioner Raphael Chimupi said that women should be given an opportunity in decision making positions as they are partners in development.

Mr Chimupi said that sustainable economic development will only be attained if both men and women work together.

 “Women should partner with men as there is no job meant for men or women. He said women should come forward and has confidence in themselves t rather than to shy away, “he said.
