A Zambia Airforce Force (ZAF) Warrant Officer Class 1 has been arrested by the Anti-Corruption Commission for possession of properties suspected to be proceeds of crime worth over K7, 720,000.
Albert Likezo Siyunda, aged 54 of New Kasama in Lusaka, in Charge of cashiers at the Zambia Airforce Headquarters, was arrested and charged with seven counts of possession and concealment of property reasonably suspected of being proceeds of crime.
According to Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) public relations manager Timothy Moono, between January 1, 2020 to December 31, 2021, Siyunda allegedly possessed six residential houses which were concealed and registered in his wife’s name, Nandina Lyatamani and one residential house in his own name.
Mr Moono said all the properties are reasonably suspected of being proceeds of crime.
Mr Moono said investigations have revealed that Siyunda engaged a construction company to construct some of the houses for him while other houses were bought on cash.
“Two of the properties are located in New Kasama worth about K3million, a block of two flats in Mutendere-East worth about K1,200.000, a house in Chalala area worth about K500,000, a house in Lilayi worth about K670,000, a house in Mutendere-East worth about K600,000 and another house in Ibex worth about K1,550,000,” he said.
He said Siyunda’s wife Lyatamani, aged 44, has also been arrested and charged with seven counts of possession and concealment of the said property reasonably suspected of being proceeds of crime.
“Details are that Lyatamani, did possess property, namely six residential houses registered in her name and one residential house registered and concealed in her husband’s name, all reasonably suspected of being proceeds of crime,” he said.
Mr Moono said the duo has since been released on bond and are expected to appear before court soon.
