UPND buying time by rejecting nominations-PF

By Staff Writer

The Patriotic Front (PF) have charged that the United Party for National Development (UPND) are buying time by rejecting nominations for Kwacha and Kabushi seats on the Copperbelt.

Party presidential aspirant Brian Mundubile said after Kwacha PF aspirant Joseph Malanji’s nomination was rejected that the law is clear in that their preferred candidate for the Kwacha seat Mr Malanji is eligible.

“The UPND are buying time and they are cowards. It is shameful. If you think PF has gone, you better think twice. The Zambian people are the judge and we have seen victory for Kwacha as PF,” he said.

Mr Mundubile said the party would wait for the court’s decision as it was the only institution that could interpret an outcome.

Earlier, Mr Malanji also said challenged the UPND that if they are strong, they should let the ballot speak.

“If they are strong enough, let them meet us on the ground. And if they think they are strong, let us go for an election, otherwise, elections will not take place until our faces are on the ballot,” Patriotic Front (PF) Kwacha aspiring candidate, Joseph Malanji has charged at the United Party for National Development (UPND).

Mr Malanji said he is not the one who caused the vacancy to the Kwacha seat and thus he is eligible to stand.

“I did not cause any nullification. I have brought the same credentials that I brought during filing of nominations last year. So for them to come today and find me to be the causer of nullification of the seat is an attack on democracy. We know that the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) is working under pressure,” he said.
