Solwezi Central Member of Parliament Stanford Mulusa has handed over first cheques to 24 cooperatives from all twelve Wards of Solwezi central constituency worth K480, 000 for the first quarter of 2022 Grants.
Mr Mulusa said government has fulfilled most of the promises made to the people of Zambia in one year.
Mr Mulusa said government has not only given out Grants to cooperatives but also created jobs for the youths and free education.
Mr Mulusa also said government has sponsored 394 youths to pursue various skills in different skills training institutions at the cost of 4, 324,104 in the constituency.
He has however urged the cooperatives to put to good use the money and invest in business according to the business proposals.
And Solwezi Mayor Remmy Kalepa said he was delighted to see 24 cooperatives consists of youths and women’s in Solwezi receive payment certificates as confirmation of Grant’s payment.
Mr Kalepa said the Grants have given many communities an opportunity to venture into various businesses that will improve their livelihood as they endeavor to grow economically and develop as a district.
“The growth of the population in Solwezi requires a community that is prepared to meet the social and economic demands of growing district. The empowerment Grants will help our youths and women’s to set up businesses that will enable more investor confidence as well as enable us meet the demands of a growing population,” he said.
