65 cooperatives empowered in Nchanga constituency

Nchanga Constituency has approved grants for all the clubs and cooperatives that applied for the Constituency Development Funds (CDF) grants.

The over 300 clubs and cooperatives will receive their grants in phases, of which 65 cooperatives have been awarded grants today.

Speaking during the grants awards ceremony held at Chingola Civic Center’s Council Chamber, Nchanga Member of Parliament Derricky Chilundika urged the beneficiaries to utilize the money according to their proposals.

Mr Chilundika also warned the beneficiaries to desist from sharing the money among members or they risk being prosecuted.

He said in as much as the grants are not meant to be returned there is need for the beneficiaries to put the money to good use.

The money that was awarded inform of grants amounted to K488, 000.

And Nchanga Constituency CDF Chairperson Thomson Musoloyi has called on the beneficiaries not to relax but work hard for the growth of their business.

And speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries Josephine Cholachoma said the grants will be used to multiply their businesses.

Ms Cholachoma encouraged other cooperatives that have been left not to feel discouraged as this is the just the beginning of the empowerments through grants.
