MInister of Water Development and Sanitation Mike Mposha has warned illegal land developers building on the land belonging to Kafubu Water and Sewerage Company ( KWSC) to immediately halt construction activities.
According to KWSC Facebook page Mr Mposha said Government will not allow anyone to erect building on the land at the Itawa Treatment Plant in Ndola.
He said this when conducted an on the spot check on the encroached land in Ndola yesterday.
“Government won’t allow lawlessness. Who ever this developer is. We won’t allow this. This water intake point should be protected at all costs. This water risks drying up if this water intake point is not protected,” Mr Mposha said.
He said the new dawn administration will not sit and watch lawlessness take centre stage hence It will move in and demolish structures on the Itawa Water treatment plant.
” We will engage the Commissioner of Lands immediately and this project has to be halted. I want to know how this particular developer got this piece of land. The law will visit them. The beacons here are well marked. We want to know how a title was given to this developer ,” he said.
Mr Mposha said Government has given the Ndola City Council to close the matter centered on the latest encroachment.
The utility firm said the Itawa Water treatment plant produces over twenty thousand cubic meters per day.
The water produced at the Itawa treatment plant is largely supplied to the Northern part of Ndola.
Mr Mposha is in the Province to unveil the Board Members for Chambeshi and Luapula Water and Sewerage Companies respectively.
