Monze Town Council Secretary Frank Kalenga has called on Traditional Leaders in the District to involve the Local Authority in their development plans so as to have a coordinated development for the district.

Speaking when he paid a courtesy call on His Royal Highness Chief Hamusonde of Bweengwa, Mr Kalenga who was recently reinstated said Traditional Leaders are key to the development process of the District as they are the owners of both the land and the people.

He said no development can take place without the input of traditional leaders in the District hence seeking the Traditional Leader’s blessings.

Mr Kalenga said that development is a process that requires the input of all stakeholders especially with the current friendly working environment.

“It is high time to not only develop the District but also bring in investors to help with the creation of employment for the residents of Monze.

He has since requested His Royal Highness to constitute a Development Plans Committee which will work hand in hand with the Local Authority so as to ensure coordinated development in the District.

And Chief Hamusonde said he was humbled by the gesture of the new Council Secretary saying very few Council Secretaries realize that Traditional Leaders play a critical role in the development process of any District.

He said it important for government structures to work with existing development structures such as Traditional Leaderships as that helps to tackle the real challenges affecting the people.
