2,232 retirees have received their full benefits from the Public Service Pension Fund –(PSPF) after government disbursed K2.6 billion fund.
PSPF Director Finance Pindani Nyirenda said a small portion of the monies was also disbursed for monthly pension to more than 60 thousand retirees.
Mr Nyirenda, however, says the disbursement of monies for pensioners is an ongoing process as the fund continues to receive retirement files from various ministries.
He has also thanked Government for disbursing the funds saying it is unprecedented and noted that with such support, the retirees will continue to receive their monies in a short period.
Mr Nyirenda said the waiting period for one to access their benefits has also reduced from three years to at least six months.
